Day 1

Each game consists of a three minute round, a one minute break, and then another three minute round with the position of the players switched.

Standing


Attribution: This game was originally created by Jordan: Jordan Teaches Jiujitsu.

Attacking Player:

  • Position: One arm under the armpit of the defending player. Your hand hands either on their near shoulder, far shoulder, or on their far hip side.
  • Objective: Drive into the defending player and reach for their far knee to grap it and bring them to the ground.
  • Constraints: Keep your arm (underhook) connected to them.
  • Win Condition: Hip of the defending player hits the ground.

Defending Player:

  • Position: The attacking player has one of their arms under your armpit. You wrap the attacking arm with your arm.
  • Objective: Sweep the attacking players inside leg with your inside leg backwards.
  • Constraints: You can only use your inside leg to attack ther inside leg.
  • Win Condition: The attacking player falls to the ground.

  • Constraints: You can only use your inside leg.
  • Win Condition: The attacking player falls to the ground.

Guard


One person on their side on the ground with another person attempting to progress past their legs. Bottom player is blocking top player's progress using their top knee, arms, and hands. One person on their side on the ground with another person attempting to progress past their legs. Bottom player is blocking top player's progress using their top knee, arms, and hands.

Top Player:

  • Position: On your knees with your partner's bottom leg between yours and your chest pressing against the knee of their top leg. Their hands should be connected to your body in any configuration they want.
  • Objective: Remove the knee shield.
  • Constraints: You can alleviate pressure to manipulate the frame, but cannot flee the engagement.
  • Win Condition: The knee shield is no longer between you and your partner.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On one side with your bottom leg inside your partner's knees, your top knee should be touching their upperbody, and your hands/arms should be touching their body in any configuration you'd like.
  • Objective: Keep your top knee between you and your partner. Do not allow them to remove it.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: None

Top Player:

  • Position: On your knees in front of your training partner with your partner's feet inside your knees.
  • Objective: Break your partner's connections to your body and pin them to their back.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: Pinning bottom player to their back.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: Seated on your butt with our feet between your partner's knees.
  • Objective: Work to connect to your partner using your hands and feet. Attempt to make your partner post, and when they do keep their hand(s) on the mat for as long as possible.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: None

Pinning/Passing


Attribution: This game was originally created by coach Greg Souders at Standard Jiu-Jitsu.

Top Player:

  • Position: On top of your partner with chest to chest contact lying perpendicular to their torso.
  • Objective: Focus on isolating one or more of your partner's limbs or achieving chest to back contact in preparation for applying a submission.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Achieve a figure four grip from top side control, an extended arm connected to your partner's head while in mount, or an exposed back with solidified chest to back contact with an over/under grip (seatbelt).

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On your back with your partner on top of you lying perpendicular to your torso with chest to chest contact.
  • Objective: Create space and movement in order to allow improvement of your position.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Bring your feet between you and your partner or reverse the position.

Reset if either player wins.


Top Player:

  • Position: Kneeling next to your partner with one hand across their back and control of one of their arms.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking your partner down by attacking their arms or shoulders.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: Partner's hips or shoulders are touching the mat and you have chest to chest or chest to back contact.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On the ground with your knees and either hands or elbows on the mat. Your partner should be on kneeling next to you with one hand across your back and control of one of your arms.
  • Objective: Focus on standing or getting your legs between you and your partner.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: Either stand up or transition to a position where your legs are between you and your partner.

Reset if either player wins.

6 Minute Round

Live round with a partner. Start standing if you are able to do so safely. Otherwise pick the starting position from one of the previous games and start there. Roll to submission, reset, and continue. Repeat as many times as possible before the round ends.
