Day 2

Each game consists of a three minute round, a one minute break, and then another three minute round with the position of the players switched.

Standing


Attacking Player:

  • Position: Standing with one arm connected to your partner's torso inside their arm (underhook) with your other arm free.
  • Objective: Maintain your underhook and create hip to hip contact.
  • Constraints: No takedowns. Fight for inside space only.
  • Win Condition: None.

Defending Player:

  • Position: Standing with your partner's arm connected to your torso inside your arm with your same side arm hooked around their arm so that your hand is near their armpit.
  • Objective: Deny your partner access to inside space and hip to hip contact.
  • Constraints: No takedowns. Fight for inside space only.
  • Win Condition: None

Attacking Player:

  • Position: Standing in front of your partner with one arm connected to their torso inside one of their arms (underhook).
  • Objective: Fight for inside space. Get underneath or behind your partner's elbows.
  • Constraints: No takedowns.
  • Win Condition: None

Defending Player:

  • Position:Standing in front of your partner with one arm connected to their torso inside one of their arms (underhook) on the side opposite their underhook.
  • Objective: Fight for inside space. Get underneath or behind your partner's elbows.
  • Constraints: No takedowns.
  • Win Condition: None

Guard

Top Player:

  • Position: On your knees in front of your training partner with your partner's feet inside your knees.
  • Objective: Break your partner's connections to your body and pin them to their back.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: Pinning bottom player to their back.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: Seated on your butt with our feet between your partner's knees.
  • Objective: Maintain seated open guard, keep your feet between your partner's knees, and your head/hands pointed at the top player. Make connections between the top player's elbows or make connection to the outside of top player's elbows.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: None

Reset if top player wins.

Pinning/Passing


Top Player:

  • Position: On top of your partner with chest to chest contact lying perpendicular to their torso.
  • Objective: Focus on keeping your partner flattened to the mat by maintaining pressure through your chest to chest connection.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Get one leg to the other side of your partner's body so that you are straddling their torso.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On your back with your partner on top of you lying perpendicular to your torso with chest to chest contact.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking the chest to chest connection using movement and framing.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Bring your feet or knees between you and your partner or reverse the position.

Reset if bottom player wins.


Attacking Player:

  • Position: Behind your partner with one arm around their neck with the hand grabbing your opposite bicep. The hand of your other arm should be behind their head either on your opposite shoulder or the back of their head. Your legs should not be wrapped around your partner and their hips should not be covered.
  • Objective: Maintain control for as long as possible.
  • Constraints: Do not cover their hips with your feet (no hooks). Do not choke your partner or finish the submission.
  • Win Condition: None.

Defending Player:

  • Position: Seated with your parther behind you with one arm around your neck with the hand grabbing their our opposite bicep. The hand of their other arm should be behind your head either on their opposite shoulder or the back of your head.Their legs should not be wrapped around your torso or covering your hips.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking the connections your partner has made to you with their arms, legs, and chest.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: Freeing yourself from their choke by turning to face or hiding your back.

Reset if the defending player wins.

6 Minute Round

Live round with a partner. Start standing if you are able to do so safely. Otherwise pick the starting position from one of the previous games and start there. Roll to submission, reset, and continue. Repeat as many times as possible before the round ends.
