Day 2
Each game consists of a three minute round, a one minute break, and then another three minute round with the position of the players switched.
Standing
Attacking Player:
- Position: Standing in front of your partner completely disconnected.
- Objective: Tag one of your partner's knees as many times as possible before the round ends.
- Constraints: No takedowns.
- Win Condition: None
Defending Player:
- Position:Standing in front of your partner completely disconnected.
- Objective: Focus on preventing your partner from touching your knees by using movement to create space and your limbs to impede their movement.
- Constraints: No takedowns.
- Win Condition: None
This game is continuous.
Defensive Player:
- Position: Standing with your partner on one knee in front of you and their hands clasped behind your thighs as pictured below.

- Objective: Get your legs back in front of your partner.
- Constraints: Game begins when your hips touch the mat.
- Win Condition: Destabilize your partner and reverse the position.
Offensive Player:
- Position: Kneeling in front of your partner with your knee between their legs, your hands clasped behind their legs, and your head on the side of their torso opposite your kneeling leg.
- Objective: Work to break your partner's connections to you and get past the line of their hips.
- Constraints: Finish the takedown. Game starts when your partner's hips touch the mat.
- Win Condition: Achieve chest to chest or chest to back contact.
Guard
Attribution: This game was created after a private lesson with Justin Mark at Impact Jiu-Jitsu.
Attacking Player:
- Position: Standing in front of your partner with one of their ankles or shins connected to one of your legs and one hand connected to your legs.
- Objective: Focus on breaking your partner's connections to your body, and progress past their knees to their thighs. Remain there as long as possible.
- Constraints: Do not proceed past the thighs.
- Win Condition: None
Defending Player:
- Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
- Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. Use those connections to destabilize your partner to their hands or hips. If they go to their hands hold them there for as long as possible.
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: None

- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Create chest to chest or chest to back contact.
Defending Player:
- Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
- Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. Use those connections to destabilize your partner, bring them to the mat, and create chest to chest or chest to back contact.
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Transition to a position where your legs are connected to one or both of your partner's legs.
Reset if either player wins
Pinning/Passing
Top Player:
- Position: Standing while straddling your supine partner with the top of your head touching the mat in their armpit. Their arm should be wrapped around your neck with their hands connected. The position should be uncomfortable, but you should not be getting actively choked.
- Objective: Focus on freeing your head from the submission using movement and by fighting their hands.
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Freeing your head.
Bottom Player:
- Position: Laying on the ground belly up with your partner's feet on either side of your body and with their head on the mat in your armpit. Your arm should wrap around their neck and your hands should be connected.
- Objective: Maintain control of your opponent without actively choking them.
- Constraints: Do not finish the submission.
- Win Condition: None
Reset if top player wins.
Top Player:
- Position: Standing while straddling your supine partner with the top of your head touching the mat in their armpit. They should have one arm wrapped around your neck. The position should be uncomfortable, but you should not be getting actively choked.
- Objective: Focus on freeing your head from the submission using movement and by fighting their hands.
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Freeing your head.
Bottom Player:
- Position: Laying on the ground belly up with your partner's feet on either side of your body and with their head on the mat in your armpit. You should have one arm wrapped around their neck.
- Objective: Maintain control of your opponent without connecting your hands.
- Constraints: Do not connect your hands or finish the submission.
- Win Condition: None
Reset if top player wins.
6 Minute Round
Live round with a partner. Start standing if you are able to do so safely. Otherwise pick the starting position from one of the previous games and start there. Roll to submission, reset, and continue. Repeat as many times as possible before the round ends.
