Day 1

Each game consists of a three minute round, a one minute break, and then another three minute round with the position of the players switched.

Standing


Attacking Player:

  • Position: Standing in front of your partner with one arm connected to their torso inside one of their arms (underhook).
  • Objective: Focus on getting inside of or around your partner's elbows.
  • Constraints: No takedowns.
  • Win Condition: Both hands connected behind your partner's back.

Defending Player:

  • Position:Standing in front of your partner with one arm connected to their torso inside one of their arms (underhook) on the side opposite their underhook.
  • Objective: Focus on getting inside of or around your partner's elbows.
  • Constraints: No takedowns.
  • Win Condition: Both hands connected behind your partner's back.

Reset if either player wins.


Defensive Player:

  • Position: Standing with your partner on one knee in front of you and their hands clasped behind your thighs as pictured below.One player is on one knee and has their hands clasped behind the thighs of the standing player. One player is on one knee and has their hands clasped behind the thighs of the standing player.
  • Objective: Get your legs back in front of your partner.
  • Constraints: Game begins when your hips touch the mat.
  • Win Condition: Destabilize your partner and reverse the position.

Offensive Player:

  • Position: Kneeling in front of your partner with your knee between their legs, your hands clasped behind their legs, and your head on the side of their torso opposite your kneeling leg.
  • Objective: Work to break your partner's connections to you and get past the line of their hips.
  • Constraints: Finish the takedown. Game starts when your partner's hips touch the mat.
  • Win Condition: Achieve chest to chest or chest to back contact.

Guard

Attacking Player:

  • Position: Standing in front of your partner with one of their ankles or shins connected to one of your legs and one hand connected to your legs.
  • Objective: Break your partner's connections to your body.
  • Constraints:
  • Win Condition: None

Defending Player:

  • Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
  • Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. If you are able to gain control retain it for as long as possible.
  • Constraints: Do not sweep your opponent.
  • Win Condition: None

  • Position: Standing in front of your partner with one of their ankles or shins connected to one of your legs and one hand connected to your legs.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking your partner's connections to your body, and progress past their knees to their thighs. Remain there as long as possible.
  • Constraints: Do not proceed past the thighs.
  • Win Condition: None

Defending Player:

  • Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
  • Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. Use those connections to destabilize your partner to their hands or hips. If they go to their hands hold them there for as long as possible.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: None

Pinning/Passing


Top Player:

  • Position: On top of your partner with chest to chest contact lying perpendicular to their torso.
  • Objective: Focus on keeping your partner flattened to the mat by maintaining pressure through your chest to chest connection.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Transition to either North South (in line with your partner's torso with your chest over theirs) or side control on the opposite side of their body and hold the position for 3 seconds.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On your back with your partner on top of you lying perpendicular to your torso with chest to chest contact.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking the chest to chest connection using movement and framing.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Bring your feet or knees between you and your partner or reverse the position.

Reset if bottom player wins.

Top Player:

  • Position: On top of your partner with chest to chest contact with your elbows in their armpits and their head near your belly button.
  • Objective: Focus on keeping your partner flattened to the mat by maintaining pressure through your chest to chest connection.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: None.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On your back with your partner on top of you with their elbows in your armpits and your head near their belly button.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking the chest to chest connection using movement and framing.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Bring your feet or knees between you and your partner, stand up, or reverse the position.

Reset if bottom player wins.

6 Minute Round

Live round with a partner. Start standing if you are able to do so safely. Otherwise pick the starting position from one of the previous games and start there. Roll to submission, reset, and continue. Repeat as many times as possible before the round ends.
