Day 2
Each game consists of a three minute round, a one minute break, and then another three minute round with the position of the players switched.
Standing
Attribution: This game is based on a Seminar posted by coach Greg Souders at Standard Jiu-Jitsu.
Attacking Player:
- Position: Standing in front of your partner completely disconnected.
- Objective: Get your partner's hands on the mat or tap with a hand behind their knee to get a point. Alternatively achieve a closed hands connection around arm+head, torso or leg for a instant win.
- Constraints: No takedowns.
- Win Condition: Be the first player to collect three points, or achieve a closed hands connection.
Defending Player:
- Position: Standing in front of your partner completely disconnected.
- Objective: Get your partner's hands on the mat or tap with a hand behind their knee to get a point. Alternatively achieve a closed hands connection around arm+head, torso or leg for a instant win.
- Constraints: No takedowns.

Attacking Player:
- Position: The defending player has one of their arms under your armpit. You wrap the attacking arm with your arm.
- Objective: Move your partner around using your hands, while keeping the overhook. Seek foot-to-foot contact.
- Constraints: Only Foot Sweeps.
- Win Condition: Your partner falls to the ground.
Defending Player:
- Position: One arm under the armpit of the attacking player. Your hand hands either on their near shoulder, far shoulder, or on their far hip side.
- Objective: Get your hands connected around your partner's body anywhere below the armpits.
- Constraints: No takedowns.
- Win Condition: Connected hands.
Guard
Attribution: This game was originally created by coach Greg Souders at Standard Jiu-Jitsu.
Top Player:
- Position: Top of your partner who is on their side. You have access to their hips.
- Objective: Flatten your opponent to their back, create chest to chest contact, and establish underhooks
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Free your trapped leg.
Bottom Player:
- Position: On your side with your partner having access to your hips.
- Objective: Use movement to create space and improve your position.
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Establish the knee shield or inside hook.
Attribution: This game was created after a private lesson with Justin Mark at Impact Jiu-Jitsu.
Attacking Player:
- Position: Standing in front of your partner with one of their ankles or shins connected to one of your legs and one hand connected to your legs.
- Objective: Break your partner's connections to your body.
- Constraints:
- Win Condition: None
Defending Player:
- Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
- Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. If you are able to gain control retain it for as long as possible.
- Constraints: Do not sweep your opponent.
- Win Condition: None
Pinning/Passing
Attribution: This game was originally created by coach Greg Souders at Standard Jiu-Jitsu.
Top Player:
- Position: On your toes with your chest connected to your partner's shoulder blades, one hand on their chin, and one hand on their elbow.
- Objective: Continuously try to keep your partner's hands on the mat and continuously cover their head. Connect your arms locking your partner's head and arm together then destabilize them to their back.
- Constraints: No submissions allowed.
- Win Condition: Partner is destabilized to their back with their arm and head locked together.
Bottom Player:
- Position: On your hands and knees with your partner's chest connected to your shoulder blades, one hand holding your chin, and one hand on your elbow.
- Objective: Try to relieve yourself from the situation by freeing your head.
- Constraints: None.
- Win Condition: Free your head.
Reset if either player wins.

Top Player:
- Position: Connected with one hand on the chin and one hand on the elbow.
- Objective: Continuously try to keep your partner's hands on the mat and continuously cover their head. Connect your arms locking your partner's head and arm together then destabilize them to their back. As you do so look to secure a figure 4 grip, maintain it, and compress to finish.
- Constraints: None
- Win Condition: Finish the head and arm strangle.
Bottom Player:
- Position: On your hands and knees with your partner covering your head with one hand on your chin and one hand on your elbow.
- Objective: Try to relieve yourself from the situation by freeing your head.
- Constraints: None.
- Win Condition: Free your head.
Reset if either player wins.
6 Minute Round
Live round with a partner. Start standing if you are able to do so safely. Otherwise pick the starting position from one of the previous games and start there. Roll to submission, reset, and continue. Repeat as many times as possible before the round ends.
