Day 1

Each game consists of a three minute round, a one minute break, and then another three minute round with the position of the players switched.

Standing


Attacking Player:

  • Position: Standing in front of your partner completely disconnected.
  • Objective: Tag one of your partner's knees as many times as possible before the round ends.
  • Constraints: No takedowns.
  • Win Condition: None

Defending Player:

  • Position:Standing in front of your partner completely disconnected.
  • Objective: Focus on preventing your partner from touching your knees by using movement to create space and your limbs to impede their movement.
  • Constraints: No takedowns.
  • Win Condition: None

This game is continuous.


Top Player:

  • Position: Standing disconnected in front of your partner with upright posture.
  • Objective: Touch your partner's ribs or chest.
  • Constraints: Do not touch your partner's shoulders or head.
  • Win Condition: None

Bottom Player:

  • Position: Standing disconnected in front of your partner with upright posture.
  • Objective: Do not allow your partner to touch you. Break contact when they do.
  • Constraints: Do not touch your partner's shoulders or head.
  • Win Condition: None

This game is continuous

Guard


Attribution: This game was created after a private lesson with Justin Mark at Impact Jiu-Jitsu.

Attacking Player:

  • Position: Standing in front of your partner with one of their ankles or shins connected to one of your legs and one hand connected to your legs.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking your partner's connections to your body, and progress past their knees to their thighs. Remain there as long as possible.
  • Constraints: Do not proceed past the thighs.
  • Win Condition: None

Defending Player:

  • Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
  • Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. Use those connections to destabilize your partner to their hands or hips. If they go to their hands hold them there for as long as possible.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: None

  • Position: Seated in front of your partner with one of your shins or ankles connected to one of their legs and one hand connected to their legs.
  • Objective: Create meaningful connections to your partner's legs using your legs, hands, and arms. Use those connections to destabilize your partner, bring them to the mat, and create chest to chest or chest to back contact.
  • Constraints: None
  • Win Condition: Transition to a position where your legs are connected to one or both of your partner's legs.

Pinning/Passing

Top Player:

  • Position: On top of your partner with chest to chest contact with your elbows in their armpits and their head near your belly button.
  • Objective: Focus on keeping your partner flattened to the mat by maintaining pressure through your chest to chest connection.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: None.

Bottom Player:

  • Position: On your back with your partner on top of you with their elbows in your armpits and your head near their belly button.
  • Objective: Focus on breaking the chest to chest connection using movement and framing.
  • Constraints: None.
  • Win Condition: Bring your feet or knees between you and your partner, stand up, or reverse the position.

Reset if bottom player wins.

6 Minute Round

Live round with a partner. Start standing if you are able to do so safely. Otherwise pick the starting position from one of the previous games and start there. Roll to submission, reset, and continue. Repeat as many times as possible before the round ends.
